Acornet upgrade 0.12 - 0.14
===========================
(can also be used to upgrade 0.13 to 0.14)
20 May 1996
Changes since 0.12
------------------
BUGFIX: Configure program was using previous account name (default "jbloggs")
to create mail domain, resulting in FreeSMTP not accepting mail; also
Reply-To field being incorrectly set and bad email addresses in FTP and http.
BUGFIX: Use of Mail$Dir by FreeNews was causing problems for some people by
conflicting with its use by !TCPIP (ka9q). Outgoing news now held within
FreeNews application.
BUGFIX: Serial tests in NetConfig gave fatal 'Undefined procedure' error if
ATZ failed (e.g. if modem switched off).
BUGFIX: Corrected CompuLink login negotiation.
BUGFIX: Corrected out-of-date information in NLnet provider file.
IMPROVEMENT: By default, only specify mail gateway as forwarder in FreeSMTP,
rather than both MX and gateway.
UPGRADE: FreeSMTP upgraded to 1.06 (this was the only change between 0.12 and
0.13)
UPGRADE: POP upgraded to 0.98 (fixes bug in use with VProtect).
UPGRADE: FreeNews upgraded to 1.02. Fixes problem with timestamp of fetch
causing in articles being missed, particularly those posted by user.
ADDITION: New provider file for Global Internet in South Africa.
Instructions
------------
If you have already configured your existing Acornet (i.e. 0.12), check that
you filer options have 'Newer' set (click MENU in a filer window and go to
the Options submenu). This ensures that your newsgroup information (groups
subscribed to; time of last fetch) is not lost when you apply the patch.
Open the archive (Upg012-014) and copy the !Acornet found inside (which only
contains the files that need to be modified) on top of the full !Acornet
application which you have already installed on your hard disc.
If you have already configured your existing Acornet, you will need to re-run
the configuration program. Start up Acornet and click on the Configure icon
in the control panel. Your details should have been remembered, so just
click on OK until the configuration is complete.
